How does my family join?

In Lufte, the family owner selects Dog → Invite a family member → Share invitation or Copy link. No recipient email is needed. Share one private, single-use link per person; it lasts 7 days. The recipient opens the link, downloads Lufte if needed, reopens the same link and signs in with their own account. The code is included in the link. Confirm “Join the family” and enable sharing. If you choose Send email, the recipient must sign in with the address you entered.

Why is a walk missing?

Finish the walk, then open Lufte with an internet connection on both phones. Check that you are in the same family and have enabled sharing. Your family's combined walks appear under Walks.

How do I adjust a walk or add a toilet break?

Open the walk on the phone that recorded it and choose Edit walk. You can change its time and estimate the distance. GPS can only calculate distance where route points exist. For a quick trip to the garden or street, choose Log a quick toilet break. It defaults to five minutes; adjust the times and record pee or poop before saving. Distance is optional.

How do I choose notification and reminder times?

Under Dog → Phone notifications, choose Walk reminders, Family weekly summary, New walking badges and Personal records separately. All choices are off until you enable them. You must also allow notifications from Lufte on your iPhone.

Personal reminders, badges and records are free. Push notifications with the family's weekly summary require active family access. You can read summaries in the app without enabling notifications.

Choose one to three different daily reminder times, with one row for each time. Add or remove times and tap Save reminder times. From version 1.1, times follow your phone's time zone, which is shown in the reminder editor. Your time zone is updated when notification settings are opened or resumed online. Older versions use Norwegian time (Europe/Oslo), including daylight saving time.

No reminder is sent if the family has synced a completed walk that ended in the last three hours. An ongoing walk, or a walk that is still only on an offline phone, cannot suppress a reminder.

You can switch off each category in the app, or all Lufte notifications in iPhone Settings. Connect to the internet when saving changes. Notifications already sent may still arrive. Walk reminders are push notifications, not emails.

Push notifications are currently being tested with selected accounts. Notifications may be delayed or not arrive; they do not guarantee that your dog has been out or needs a walk.

How do badges, records and summaries work?

Under Statistics, ten personal walking badges, records and weekly summaries are calculated from the recorded walks available in the app. Quick toilet breaks count too. Calculations use times, walk counts, known distances and any saved weather forecast. Rain and snow badges use the saved forecast, not a measurement taken during the walk.

Editing walk history can change the results. Walker of the Week only appears when at least two people have walked that week. Badges, records and summaries can be viewed without enabling notifications. Enabling notifications does not send a burst of messages for every historical badge.

How do I change the app's language?

Lufte follows your preferred supported language: Norwegian or English. On iPhone, open Settings → Apps → Lufte → Language. Names, breeds and notes you enter are kept as written. Distances are shown in kilometres, temperature in degrees Celsius and wind in metres per second.

How do I delete my account?

Choose Dog → Family sharing → Delete my account. Read the consequences and type DELETE to confirm in the English app. Update the app if the option is missing, or contact us for help. Apple subscriptions must be cancelled separately under Subscriptions in iPhone Settings.

Information and purposes

GPS walks use precise location, times, duration and distance. You enter your dog's name, breed, photos, notes and pee/poop events. Walk data and photos are stored on your phone. Manual walks do not require GPS.

Sign-in uses your email address and account ID. Family sharing uses your display name, membership and invitation email address. After you enable sharing, completed walks with routes, times, distances, notes and events are uploaded and shown to your family members. Other members contribute walks that are shown to you. Photos are currently not uploaded to the family service. When sharing an image, you choose the recipient in your phone's share menu.

Apple handles subscription payments. Lufte verifies purchases with Apple and stores transaction IDs, subscription type, expiry, any revocation, and the link to an account and family. This provides the correct family access and helps prevent misuse. Lufte does not receive card numbers or bank details.

Badges, personal records and weekly summaries are calculated from walk history. If you choose push notifications, we store your preferences and reminder times, a technical identifier for your phone (push token) linked to your account, and delivery status with time and notification type. From version 1.1, your app language and time zone are stored with your notification preferences so messages arrive in the correct language and at your selected local times. We also store which badges and records have been processed for notifications to limit repeated messages. Notification preferences and your phone's push token are not shown to other family members.

Legal bases and choices

Your account and walk history are used to provide the service and family sharing you request, based on the service agreement. Optional sharing, weather and push notifications are enabled by you. Reminders, weekly summaries, new badges and personal records each have a separate setting, off by default. You can change or turn off these choices in the app. Push notifications also require permission in iPhone Settings, where they can be disabled. Walk reminders are not sent by email.

You can withdraw location access in iPhone Settings and turn off weather in the app. Signing out disconnects the phone from that account's push notifications and stops further uploading, but does not delete walks already shared. Delete the walks or your account to remove them.

Technical operational and security information is used to keep the service available and protect accounts, based on our legitimate interest in secure operation. Routes are not used for advertising or automated decisions with legal effects.

Recipients and service providers

Supabase provides authentication and the database; the project's database is in the EU region eu-west-1. Resend sends sign-in emails and family invitations and processes recipient addresses and delivery information. Apple provides maps and, when subscriptions are available, purchase processing. If you enable weather, a rounded location is sent through the service to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.

Push notifications use Expo and Apple Push Notification service (APNs). These providers process technical recipient identifiers, notification content and delivery information to deliver messages to your phone. Messages may include last week's walk count, a new badge or a new record. GPS routes and photos are not included in push notifications. Notifications may appear on your lock screen, depending on your settings. See Expo's push notification information.

This website is provided through OpenAI Sites and its hosting infrastructure, which may process IP addresses and technical access logs. Providers' operations and subcontractors may involve processing outside the EU/EEA. Contact us for information about the applicable provider agreements and transfer safeguards. We do not sell personal information.

Retention and deletion

Walk history is kept until the walk or account is deleted. Local walks remain after ordinary sign-out. Account deletion removes your account, your shared walks, membership, saved email and notification preferences, registered push tokens, delivery records and notification history for badges and records from the active database. Linked local walks are removed on the phone performing the deletion. Other phones update their view when they connect to the service. Photos shared outside Lufte cannot be recalled.

Turning off notifications stops new sends for the categories you turn off, but does not delete walk history or earlier delivery records. A notification already sent to a provider may still arrive. Other family members' walks are kept. A remaining member takes over the family when its owner deletes their account; if nobody remains, the family is removed. When a subscriber deletes their account, the account link is removed from Lufte's purchase record. A technical Apple account token may remain with the purchase record so renewals and refunds still update the remaining family; it cannot be used to sign in. Purchase status may be kept for the remaining family; the record is removed when the family is deleted. Apple manages its own purchase history. Backups and provider logs follow the providers' rotation schedules and may remain for a limited period after deletion; they are not used as active walk history.

Your rights

You can request access, correction, deletion, restriction and a copy of your data. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent where consent is used. Contact us by email. You can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.

Weather

Weather data is provided by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway) under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). See the MET Weather API terms.

Lufte displays selected forecast data for your area. Location is rounded to two decimal places before fetching the forecast. Temperature is rounded to whole degrees, weather codes receive descriptions in your app's language, and wind and precipitation are formatted for display. This is a forecast, not observations from your walk. Lufte is an independent app; this attribution does not imply endorsement by MET Norway.

Use and subscriptions

Lufte provides an overview of recorded walks. GPS, connectivity and phone settings affect accuracy and syncing. The app is not a safety or monitoring service.

Paid family access is being prepared. One subscription covers one dog and a family of up to six people. Local prices and billing periods are displayed by Apple before purchase. The planned Norwegian prices are NOK 39 per month or NOK 299 per year. Payment only starts when you confirm the purchase with Apple.

The planned trial is 14 days from the second family member joining, with no payment details and no automatic charge. Paid Apple subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in Apple's settings. An invitation never starts a purchase.

When the trial or subscription expires, history is kept. The family owner can continue with free solo use. Other members can still record walks on their phones; new walks from multiple people are shared when family access becomes active again. Open beta families have no running trial or automatic payment.

Manage and cancel purchases under Subscriptions in iPhone Settings. Deleting your Lufte account or the app does not cancel your Apple subscription. Use Restore purchases in the app with the same Lufte and Apple accounts if your purchase is missing.

Apple's standard terms apply where applicable. Statutory consumer rights are not restricted.
